Château Gigognan Châteauneuf-Du-Pape
Manual harvest with rigorous sorting. Grapes crushed and destemmed, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Long vatting period with numerous pumping over and delestages for a better extraction of colour and tannins (4 to 6 weeks). Blending after malolactic fermentation, maturing in barrels (35%) and concrete vats (65%) allowing micro-oxygenation of the wine, which is favourable to its development. Light filtration and bottling in June 2017.
This wine has a beautiful purple red colour, it is powerful and generous with fine and melted tannins, exhaling aromas of red fruits and undergrowth. It will be the ideal companion of red meats, game and cheeses of character. To be consumed from the 3rd or 4th year, it can be kept for 8 to 10 years. To taste between 18 and 20°C.
2016 The Wine advocate, Joe Czerwinski, (August 2018) 91-94
Impressive before bottling, a potential blend of Châteauneuf du Pape 2016 presents
60 % grenache, 30 % syrah and 10 % mourvèdre, aged in combination with stainless steel
and old barrels. Notes of red fruits, raspberries, strawberries and rhubarb lead the way,
followed by a full-bodied, creamy textured mouth that becomes sticky and dry at the end.
