Margaux
Margaux is a French red wine with a registered designation of origin produced around the town of Margaux in the Médoc, one of the subdivisions of the Bordeaux vineyard.
It is the most extensive and southernmost of the communal appellations of the Médoc vineyard. They are said to be the most feminine of the Médoc wines.
Belonging to the Médoc vineyard, it shares its history with the other appellations of this vineyard. The characteristics of this product were recognised on 10 August 1954 by the granting of a registered designation of origin. The specifications were updated in November 20114, as for all French wine appellations.
The Margaux vineyard extends about twenty-five kilometres north of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Gironde.
It is located in the communes of Arsac, Cantenac, Labarde, Margaux and Soussans.
